FastGeek Computers & Networking Services About Us! FastGeek Computers is owned and operated by Jason McManus. In most cases when you call for help I'll be the one you'll speak to and work with. The exception to that rule is for MS Office related educational training, in which case I'll place you in the skillful hands of my wife Beverly (Bev). Not to say that I don't know my way around Word, Excel and the likes; but fact of the matter is Bev's knowledge of these programs far surpasses my own! FastGeek Computers is a home based business; thus explaining how we can offer more flexible rates when you bring your equipment to us in certain cases. (Please see Services for more information) We're located approximately three miles NORTH of HWY-50 on HWY-49 and will give you detailed directions to our location when setting up any drop off appointments. This site has thus far been written in an "impersonal / indirect" fashion; however this page will be more along the lines of a first person narrative. With that out of the way, please allow me to tell you about my experience and about myself in general. I've been using computers since I was about six years old, back when the Apple ][ was the latest and greatest in the computer world; which was sometime in 1980. Professionally I have been fixing PC's, networks and so forth for the last fifteen some odd years. During those fifteen years I've worked in private computer shops in Watsonville & Santa Cruz (where I started my career) to working in the Semi-Conductor Industry at KLA-Tencor, which took me all over the world. The globe-trotting lasted for approximately six years and was immensely enjoyable and educational. Since early 2003, after moving to Placerville in 2001, I've been serving the community of El Dorado County in taking care of their computer & networking needs. I enjoy working with private individuals / families just as much as working with businesses. In the last couple years I've met a lot of interesting people and have made some good friends in the process! Which in turn brings me to one of my most important skills; especially for a "Computer Guy"... And that would be the fact that I'm
a perfectly normal guy with great "people skills". Yes I can fix your computer and make it purr like a proverbial kitten; but just as important is the fact that I get along fantastically with my customers. I'm perfectly happy to discuss just about anything you have on your mind whilst fixing your computer; within the realms of good taste that is! On the other hand, if you prefer to simply show me to your computer and return to whatever else you're working on elsewhere in the house, that's perfectly fine too. Some folks would have you think that anyone calling themselves Fast"GEEK" would have the social skills of a toad. Granted that observation isn't 100% baseless because, lets be honest, a lot of hard-core "geeks" don't exactly enjoy much in the way of human-to-human interaction! In fact, you might have a mental picture of a computer geek. Bad clothes, stringy hair, questionable grooming habits, thick plastic glasses, pocket protector and the people skills of a fence post! I can assure you, whole heartedly, that's not me! FastGeek is an online name I made up many years ago and since so many people liked it, I chose to use it as my business name. My business name and all of that aside, be assured that I conduct myself in a professional and dedicated manner. Finally if you should so desire, references are available upon request. My clients run the gamut from private individuals, small business owners, attorneys, medical professionals to law enforcement; any of whom would be happy to vouch for both my professional skills and good character. Oh, and if you're curious as to how I came to use "fastgeek" as my online persona, and ultimately my business name, then I'm perfectly happy to tell you. It's rather simple and silly really. I like fast things - fast cars, fast computers, etc. Then there's the fact that I work in the tech industry, which makes me a "geek"... put one together with the other and there you have it!
